Are We a Good Fit?
New Patient Checklist
Choosing a pediatric provider is an important decision. At Hometown Pediatrics, we believe great care begins with shared expectations, mutual respect, and a commitment to partnership.
We are a comprehensive pediatric practice focused on preventive care, timely sick visits, and long-term relationships with the families we serve. Our policies are designed to protect your time, our team’s time, and the quality of care each child receives.
Below, you’ll find an overview of what you can expect from our office — and what we ask of the families who join our practice. Reviewing this information helps ensure we are the right fit for one another.
We are proud to provide a welcoming, child-focused environment rooted in clear communication and consistency.

Vaccines
Our Vaccine Policy follows the schedule outlined by the American Academy of Pediatrics. Vaccines are an important part of preventive pediatric care and protecting children from serious illness.
We understand that families may have questions, and we are always happy to have thoughtful, respectful conversations about your child’s care.
Antibiotics
We practice evidence-based medicine and are committed to responsible antibiotic use. Many childhood illnesses are viral and improve with supportive care rather than antibiotics.
For your child’s safety, we do not prescribe antibiotics over the phone and believe in performing a proper evaluation before starting treatment. Our goal is to treat appropriately while minimizing unnecessary medications and antibiotic resistance.
Medical Home
We believe your child deserves a true pediatric medical home — a place where care is coordinated, comprehensive, and centered around their long-term health.
We encourage families to contact our office first when concerns arise. Whenever possible, we prefer to evaluate concerns in our office and, when specialty care is needed, refer to trusted specialists and help coordinate that care.
If your child sees a specialist, we ask that reports be sent directly to us so we can maintain the most complete and up-to-date medical record and continue overseeing your child’s care.
Technology
We value clear, efficient communication and use technology to help make that possible.
We encourage families to register for and use our patient portal for non-urgent messages, prescription requests, and accessing appointment information. Automated reminders for visits and immunizations help keep your child’s care on track.
Using the portal and digital tools helps our office run smoothly and allows us to focus more time on caring for your child.
Office Hours

We offer scheduled well child visits and same-day sick child visits.
Visits are by apppointment only to ensure timely, focused care for every child.
We do not operate as a walk-in clinic. Calling ahead allows us to prepare for your child's needs and provide the most efficient care possible.
After Hours
Our provider is available 24/7/365 for urgent medical concerns.
If your child has an urgent issue after hours, please call our main office number and follow the prompts to reach the on-call provider.
After-hours care is intended for urgent medical needs only.
Non-urgent concerns — including mild illness, appointment requests, school forms, and prescription refills — should be addressed during regular office hours.
For life-threatening emergencies, please call 911.
We encourage you to visit our child health resources for helpful information before calling our after-hours clinician.
Insurance
We participate with many insurance plans. We encourage families to confirm that Hometown Pediatrics is in-network with their specific plan prior to establishing care.
It is the responsibility of the policyholder to understand their plan’s benefits, deductibles, and coverage limitations. Please bring your current insurance card to each visit and be prepared to pay any copayments at the time of service.
While our team is happy to assist with general questions, detailed coverage and benefit inquiries should be directed to your insurance company. We are required to bill according to your health plan’s guidelines and for the services provided.
For more detailed information, please review our Financial Policy.
Billing
Copayments, deductibles, and any known patient balances are due at the time of service.
If you anticipate difficulty with payment, we encourage you to contact our office prior to your visit so we can discuss available options. Our goal is to be transparent and avoid unexpected billing concerns.
Outstanding balances may delay scheduling of future non-urgent appointments.
For full details, please review our Financial Policy.
Scheduled Appointments
We provide both routine well-child visits and same-day sick visits to support your child’s ongoing care.
For sick concerns, please call our office directly so our team can determine the most appropriate next step. This allows us to triage efficiently and ensure your child is seen in a timely manner.
Well-child visits and routine follow-ups can be scheduled in advance. We encourage families to book early to secure preferred dates and maintain continuity of care.
To provide focused, unrushed visits, we ask that each appointment be scheduled for one primary concern. Additional issues may require a separate visit.
Timeliness & Missed Appointments
We value everyone’s time. To help us stay on schedule and provide focused, unrushed care, we ask that families arrive 10 minutes prior to their appointment.
Patients arriving late may be asked to reschedule if we are unable to accommodate them without disrupting other scheduled visits.
Missed appointments and late cancellations impact our clinical team and other families waiting to be seen. We require at least 24 hours’ notice to cancel or reschedule an appointment. A missed appointment fee may be applied when adequate notice is not provided.
Repeated missed appointments may result in dismissal from the practice.
